How an interstate trip actually works
A day trip to Kollur and a week in Kerala are different animals, and the difference is mostly paperwork and rest — neither of which should be your problem.
- The permit and border tax are ours to handle. Every vehicle crossing a state line needs an interstate permit, and each state levies its own tax. We arrange both before departure and state them as a line in the quote, so nothing is discovered at a checkpost with your family in the car.
- The driver's stay is in the quote. You are not booking his room and you are not being asked for cash at the end of the day. Where a hotel has driver accommodation we use it; where it does not, we find it nearby.
- Overnight driving is not the default. A driver who has driven all day should not then drive all night. Long routes are planned around a proper halt, and if your schedule genuinely cannot accommodate that, we will tell you before you book rather than after.
- One-way costs differently from a return. On a one-way drop the vehicle comes back empty, and the quote reflects that. Ask for both figures and choose — plenty of people find the return works out better than they expected.
- Go one size up on the vehicle. The size that is fine for a day trip is tiring on day five. Luggage grows on a tour, and legroom matters more with every hour.

- Toyota Innova Crysta — 6+1 seater, 3 large bags. Family temple tours, Kollur and Dharmasthala day trips, airport runs.
- Maruti Suzuki Ertiga — 6+1 seater, 2 medium bags. Day trips around Udupi, Karkala and Malpe with a small family.
- Toyota Etios — 4+1 seater, 2 large bags. Mangaluru airport transfers and two-to-four passenger temple visits.
- Toyota Glanza — 4+1 seater, 2 medium bags. Couples, local Udupi sightseeing and short station or airport hops.
For anything beyond two days we generally suggest the Innova Crysta over a sedan, and the Force Urbania 16+1 over a tempo traveller for a large group — the air suspension and the push-back recliners stop being a luxury somewhere around hour six of a Mumbai run.
Why there are no distances on this page
Deliberately. A wrong figure on a 900-kilometre trip costs someone a day of planning, and we would rather give you the real distance, the real driving time and the number of halts when we quote the actual route you want. Tell us the destinations and the dates and you will have all three in writing.

Interstate travel — common questions
Yes — interstate touring is a regular part of what we do. Maharashtra, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Goa are all routine, and we have taken groups as far as Mumbai, Chennai and Hyderabad. Every one of those trips is chauffeur-driven, the same as a day trip to Kollur.
We do. Every vehicle crossing a state border needs a permit and the applicable border tax, and that is our job, not yours — it is arranged before departure and included as a stated line in the quote rather than sprung on you at the checkpost.
We arrange it, and the cost is inside the quote. You are not expected to book a room for him or to be asked for money at the end of the day. Most hotels have driver accommodation; where they do not, we find it nearby.
Yes, though it is quoted differently from a return, because the vehicle has to come back empty. For a one-way Mumbai or Bengaluru drop, tell us at the enquiry stage and we will give you both figures so you can decide.
It depends entirely on how much you want to see. Kerala is comfortable in four to six days from here; a full Tamil Nadu temple circuit is more like eight to ten. Tell us the places that matter and we will tell you honestly how many days it needs rather than compressing it.

Go one size up from what the headcount suggests. Four people on a week in Kerala with luggage are far more comfortable in an Innova Crysta than in a sedan; eight to eleven want the tempo traveller, and a larger group the Force Urbania 16+1 with its air suspension and recliner seats.
