What the road is like
Four-lane NH-66 nearly the whole way and a good surface, but the Surathkal stretch past the NITK campus and the refinery slows badly between 9 and 11 in the morning and again from 5 in the evening. Leaving Udupi before eight turns a ninety-minute drive into seventy.
